Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales has quickly become Gatlinburg's favorite summer-long tradition. Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales starts in the evening, up and down downtown Gatlinburg, and during this time, you can find a whole host of characters, professional entertainers and presenters, performing either some old time mountain music, a highland dance, or some old fashioned stories about the Smokies. Each night, starting at 5 p.m., a wagon carrying the performers drives across town to deliver them to their spots, and a band can be heard playing from the truckbed as it drives. This is a free activity on behalf of Gatlinburg. Each Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales night starts at 5 p.m. and ends
at 10 p.m.
