Gatlinburg's Fourth of July celebration is an all-day event starting at midnight on July 4th (5 minutes after 11:55 p.m. on July 3rd). At that moment, a large Fourth of July parade marches down the main street to a crowd of thousands. This is the biggest parade in Gatlinburg and it can last close to an hour. Next, we have the River Raft Regatta that takes place along the Little Pigeon River, where participants are encouraged to float just about anything they want in a race towards Ripley's Believe it or Not. Then, finally, the biggest show in the area begins after the sun sets, with rockets exploding overhead at 500 feet between Stoplights #3 and The Sky Lift.
